Winding up Louis Vuitton’s watchmaking revival.
About
Jean Arnault at a glance
Born in 1998, Jean Arnault, the youngest son of LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, is shaking up the world of luxury watchmaking. Appointed Director of Watches at Louis Vuitton at just 23, he wasted no time in redefining Louis Vuitton’s approach to haute horology.
Louis Vuitton’s timepiece division has undergone a bold transformation—with a major shake-up of its collection and plans to scrap 80% of its existing lineup. He also revived independent watchmakers Gérald Genta and Daniel Roth and launched the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize, an initiative to support the next generation of horological artisans.
Arnault holds two master’s degrees—one in financial mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and another in mechanical engineering from Imperial College London.
Before stepping into the LVMH universe, he honed his skills through internships at Morgan Stanley and McLaren Racing, blending finance, engineering, and a lifelong passion for speed and precision.
